As missionaries to Guatemala and El Salvador, Rev. & Mrs. Walker planned to spend their lives sharing the love of Jesus Christ. But health problems forced the couple to end their foreign ministry. Upon their departure, they were challenged to have the Scofield Bible translated into Spanish as the best gift they could give to the Hispanic world.
They prayed for 15 years regarding this challenge. Then Rev. Walker resigned his position as Director of CAM International and accepted a less demanding position as Dean at the Miami Bible College. There, on the kitchen table, with his wife Erma, work on the Scofield Bible in Spanish began. It was cut and paste as the notes were translated with the help of Dr. Antonio Nunez.
The first Spanish Study Bible with notes by Rev. C.I. Scofield was published in 1965 and the demand has continued unabated.
When Rev. Walker stepped over into Glory, Erma took up the work of Spanish Publications which she faithfully executed, with great enthusiasm with the help of her sons, for 15 years beginning at the age of 70! Erma’s last vision was to publish a more readable and clearer copy using up to date computer formatting technology. That work was completed in 2002.
Following Erma’s home going, the work was moved to a new and efficient warehouse & distribution center. As the work of distributing the Word of God continues a third generation of Walkers has stepped in to help.
In 2002, The Karla Faye Tucker, Set Free, biography was published and has been a great addition to our expanding prison ministry.
